The Lancaster church celebrated more than 100 years of ministry this summer. Southern California Conference leadership commemorated the occasion with flowers and a certificate of recognition. The treasurer of the conference also presented a check for $10,000 to the church to expand their evangelistic vision.

Alvin Maurice Kibble, former vice president for the North American Division, passed to his rest on Friday evening, August 11, 2023, in Temecula, California, after a fall that resulted in a brain injury. Elder Kibble served in ministry for more than 50 years. A seasoned pastor and administrator, he pastored eight churches and contributed more than 35 years in church administration. He was 76.

He was one of the division’s longest-serving employees, working 20 of his 51 service years at the NAD offices. His life is celebrated by his wife, Jewel; sons, Santo and Jason; and four grandchildren.

Miki-Akeo Nelson, superintendent of schools for the Hawaii Conference, shared a story of hope and generosity that resulted in nine students who had lost homes in the fire to have their tuition fully covered at HMA Maui and two high school students were able to go to Oahu to live in the dorm and study at Hawaiian Mission Academy. The Pacific Union Conference and its department of education are continuing to assist with tuition support needs for these students as they deal with the tremendous losses following the fire. Please continue to support the Hawaii Conference as they provide assistance to children and families impacted by the Maui Fire.
