This past January and February, the Southeastern California Conference (SECC) ordained two pastors: Rudy Sandres and Steven Sigamani.
Sandres sensed the call to ministry after leaving high school more than 20 years ago. But before becoming a pastor, he served as a church elder for 15 years. Then in 2011, Sandres decided to become a pastor. He earned his bachelor’s degree in theology from Dominican Adventist University and his master’s from Andrews University.
As the sole pastor for the district, Sandres pastors both the High Desert Bilingual church and the Barstow Bilingual church.
“The main role of the church in this world is to spread the gospel,” said Sandres. “My goal as a pastor is to be a disciple for my congregations so they can go out, preach the gospel, and draw more people to Christ.”
To help reach more people, Sandres has plans to build another Adventist church in his area.
“I want to raise up another church in our neighborhood,” said Sandres. “I believe that God will empower our current congregation to make this a reality or show us a better way to reach more souls for Christ.”
Prior to becoming a pastor, Sigamani was a student. After graduating from Andrews in 2017, he pastored in Florida before moving to California in 2021.
“As an ordained pastor, I want to show or remind others that God desires our good and invites us to the kingdom,” said Sigamani. “That’s a kingdom we can begin to receive and witness today and into the future. I want to continue using my platform for the good of others and God.”
As the youth, young adult, and community pastor for Paradise Valley church, Sigamani is positioned to impact the next generation of believers in Christ.
“I believe that God leads me to share the gospel by creating opportunities for people to encounter Jesus and find belonging in our community of faith,” said Sigamani. “I work to create space for those who feel the gospel doesn’t include them. My goal is to always remind others of how God sees them and communicate that each of us possesses something special and unique to add to the body of Christ.”
SECC is blessed to have these pastors serving, both of whom are dedicated to creating opportunities to bring people to Jesus Christ so that they can serve others as well.

Rudy Sandres y Steven Sigamani ordenados al ministerio
En enero y febrero pasados, la Southeastern California Conference (SECC) ordenó a dos pastores: Rudy Sandres y Steven Sigamani.
Sandres sintió el llamado al ministerio después de dejar la high school hace más de 20 años. Pero antes de ser pastor, sirvió como anciano de la iglesia durante 15 años. Después, en 2011, Sandres decidió ser pastor. Obtuvo su licenciatura en teología de la Universidad Adventista Dominicana y su maestría de Andrews University.
Como el único pastor del distrito, Sandres pastorea la iglesias bilingües High Desert y Barstow.
«El papel principal de la iglesia en este mundo es difundir el evangelio», dijo Sandres. «Mi objetivo como pastor es ser un discípulo de mis congregaciones para que puedan salir, predicar el evangelio y atraer a más personas a Cristo».
Para ayudar a llegar a más personas, Sandres tiene planes de construir otra iglesia adventista en su área.
«Quiero levantar otra iglesia en nuestro vecindario», dijo Sandres. «Creo que Dios fortalecerá a nuestra congregación para hacerlo una realidad o mostrarnos una mejor manera de alcanzar más almas para Cristo».
Antes ser pastor, Sigamani era estudiante. Después de graduarse de Andrews en 2017, pastoreó en Florida antes de mudarse a California en 2021.
«Como pastor ordenado, quiero mostrar o recordar a otros que Dios desea nuestro bien y nos invita a su reino», dijo Sigamani. «Ese es un reino que podemos comenzar a recibir y presenciar hoy y en el futuro. Quiero seguir usando mi plataforma para el bien de los demás y de Dios».
Como pastor de jóvenes, jóvenes adultos y comunidad de la iglesia Paradise Valley, Sigamani está posicionado para impactar a la próxima generación de creyentes en Cristo.
«Creo que Dios me guía a compartir el evangelio al crear oportunidades para que las personas encuentren a Jesús y encuentren pertenencia en nuestra comunidad de fe», dijo Sigamani. «Mi labor es crear un espacio para quienes sienten que el evangelio no los incluye. Mi objetivo es ver siempre a los demás cómo Dios los ve y comunicar que cada uno posee algo especial y único para agregar al cuerpo de Cristo».
SECC tiene la bendición de tener a esos pastores dedicados a crear oportunidades para llevar a las personas a Jesucristo para que también puedan servir a los demás.
